How NFC Business Cards Work: Tap, Scan & Save Contact

An NFC business card contains a chip that opens a digital profile link when held near a compatible NFC phone. A printed QR code provides another way to open the profile.

What happens when someone taps your card?

Hold the card near the phone’s NFC reading area. The reading area varies by phone, so move the card slowly if no prompt appears. On phones with an NFC setting, NFC must be enabled. Tap the notification to open the profile in the browser.

Your customer can then use the links and save-contact option on the profile. A tap opens the page; it does not silently add a contact to the phone. The person confirms any contact download or save action.

Does the customer need an app or internet?

The recipient does not need to install an NFCPlus app to view the web profile. Their phone needs a browser and an internet connection to load it. If NFC reading is unavailable, scan the QR code with a supported camera or QR scanner.

What can you share?

Use the profile for contact details, website links, social media, a Google review link, products and services, photos, videos and a PDF catalog. Advanced features depend on the profile setup and integrations you choose.

Can you update the details later?

Update the information on your digital profile without reprinting the physical card when the card continues to point to the same profile link. For a new business name, new logo or other physical artwork change, contact the design team about a new card.

Choose a card finish

Metal cards use laser engraving with single-colour artwork. PVC cards support full-colour printing. Both include a digital profile, and NFC+ branding on the card is optional.
